So You Want to Start API Testing, Now What?

Arthur Hicken, Parasoft

About the Topic

There’s no question that API testing is integral for identifying defects at multiple layers of your application to ensure a seamless customer experience. But with so many different approaches and tools available on the market, where and how do you even get started? Instead of getting overwhelmed, you can understand API testing in a meaningful way, unlocking your power to create an effective testing strategy and ensure that your applications work the same today as they did yesterday.

In this session, Chris Colosimo will walk you through the API testing fundamentals. He’ll discuss the different types of API tests, where and why you might use them, and how to use this knowledge to successfully scale and deploy at your own organization. He’ll then review the tools landscape and describe the critical capabilities to consider in an enterprise test automation solution.

Key Learning Objectives

  • API testing basics: when and why to perform API testing, the different types of API tests (e.g. service contract, scenario, performance, etc.) and where/why you might use them
  • How to leverage these different types of tests to build and scale an effective testing strategy
  • Critical features and capabilities to choose a test automation solution for a long-term successful enterprise deployment
